WINSTON CHURCHILL Role as a strategist , orator , diplomat and a leading politician makes this man one of the most influential figures in the history of the world . In 1953 , he was awarded the Nobel Prize in literarur because of the contributions that he gave in his books on English and world history . Immediately following is a glimpse of the biography of Winston Churchill . His full name Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was born in Oxfordshire , England , 30 November 1874 and died January 24, 1965 at the age of 90 years is a political figure and author of the UK 's most well known as the Prime Minister of Great Britain during the Second World War . Churchill actual surname was Spencer- Churchill ( because he has a blood relationship with the Spencer family ) , but starting with his father , Lord Randolph Churchill , the whole family began using the surname Churchill . Winston Churchill was a descendant of the family of the first well-known Churchill , John Churchill , the first Duke Marlborough . Winston 's father , Lord Randolph Churchill , was a political figure who is also the third son of John Spencer - Churchill , 7th Duke Marlborough . Mother was Lady Randolph Churchill Winston ( Jennie Jerome ) , the daughter of American millionaire Leonard Jerome . Winston Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock , Oxfordshire , and he was born without any preparation when her mother started having contractions while traveling in horse-drawn carriages . After Winston adults , the relationship between Winston and his mother became closer , so that their relationship is more like brother and sister relationship and close friendship . The relationship between Churchill and his father are not close , despite that he always followed his father 's career . In 1816 , he proclaimed , " My father is a financial chancellor ( Chancellor of the Exchequer ) and one day , I will be doing the same thing . " He does not have many friends as a child and it is always remembered by it . Churchill is very close to the nanny , Elizabeth Anne Everest , and was very sad when he died on July 3, 1895 . Unsatisfactory performance in Harrow , Churchill often punished for poor value and are considered not trying to learn better .
